Preparing For Auto Truck Transport

For a dependable auto transport company, Specialty Mobile Systems goes out of their way to help a customer. There are certain preparations that should be made for transporting a vehicle from one location to another via a third party. When using an auto truck transport service, the first thing to remove personal items from the vehicle. There are several reasons for this. First, it is best to remove the items to be sure you can account for them. Second, personal items add weight to a vehicle, and our trucks must stop to be weighed. An overweight vehicle results in all vehicles being searched for items that may have caused the truck's overweight status. One of our trucks being ticketed as a result of failure at the weigh station will be the responsibility of the car that caused our vehicle to be over the legal weight. Preparing for car and truck transport should also have the customer checking for cracked glass, as the company will not be responsible for pre-existing nicks, scratches, or cracks.

Further Preparation For Car And Truck Transport

Spoilers should be removed if possible, as well as other hanging or after market items that could become snagged on the truck's bed. SMS auto truck transport does not guarantee that these items will not be damaged. For car and truck transport, here is a further checklist:

  • Campers, stakes and racks should be removed
  • Remove car phones and removable radios
  • Lower or remove antennas
  • Fuel tank should be no more than half full
  • Alarms should be turned off - we are not responsible for drained batteries as
  • a result of an alarm that has not been turned off
  • Luggage, bike, or ski racks should be removed

SMS will not be responsible for any unsecured non-factory vehicle standard added pieces.
